I have a lovely book to share with you today–to review and give away!
All Things Bright and Beautifulcontains the hymn text by Cecil Frances Alexander with absolutely precious illustrations by Katy Hudson. This book is such a joy to look at!
All Things Bright and Beautiful is a hardback book of 28 pages, for ages 4-7.
It’s a wonderful way to share with your young kids about the wonder of God’s creation (birds, trees, mountains, meadows, fruits in the garden, the summer sun, water, etc.) and teach them a hymn at the same time. I know you’ll love the illustrations as much as I do.
About the book:
First published by Cecil Frances Alexander in 1848, this favorite hymn has become a mainstay of churches and Sunday school classes everywhere. Here artist Katy Hudson brings new joy to the words with her fresh and bright watercolor style. Readers can join in the fun as they follow two little girls and their brother on a day filled with the discovery of “all things bright and beautiful.”
About the artist:
Katy Hudson was raised in Middlesbrough, England, and started her career as a small child drawing on freshly painted walls. Her parents quickly encouraged drawing with pencil and paper instead. The idea stuck, and after earning a degree in illustration, Katy is now a freelance illustrator. Katy works at a desk in a studio within Old London Library and likes to tap dance in her spare time.
As you read the book, listen to one of my favorite arrangements of the hymn, by John Rutter.

I’ve found that the only hymns I can sing at Church are the ones I have memorized because I can’t hold a hymnal and a grabby baby at once. I’d like my kids to know hymns as well so that they can carry those messages with them forever as well. 🙂
My son who is mentally challenged due to a illness as a baby would love this book although he is a young man he still likes books like this, I usually read to him but am beginning to get books for him that will interest him in reading.
