We have been doing lapbooks for many of our school subjects for years: science, history, character, Bible, English, math, etc. But, today I want to show you some fun ways to combine music with lapbooks.

You’ve probably heard me express before how much I LOVE the Maestro Classics CDs. They are high quality, use a real orchestra to play the music, have a variety of activities, and are so fun to listen to!

Now, I have discovered that the lapbook company A Journey Through Learning has made lapbook packs that go along with the CDs!

Today, I’ll share about two of them:

What is a Lapbook?

First, just a quick explanation about what a lapbook is in case you don’t know. They are a way for students to synthesize what they have learned about a particular subject by writing or drawing on mini-booklets (made of paper) and pasting them in a file folder. On the audio of My Name is Handel: The Story of Water Music, you learn the story of Handel and why he wrote Water Music. You learn about his opera Rinaldo and his oratorio Messiah.

The lapbook not only contains the mini-booklets, it includes pictures and instructions for how to put it together, lessons to read about different topics, notebooking pages to write what they learned and other books they read, and a bibliography/other websites to explore.
