How to Use the 15-Minute Music Method to Create a Beautiful and Simple Christmas School (E92)

Personalized Music & Fine Arts Path for Music in Our Homeschool music and art courses

Every December, homeschool moms everywhere start whispering the same phrase: “Christmas School.”

It’s that wonderful time when we set aside our regular math, grammar, and science lessons for something slower, cozier, and more meaningful. Instead of feeling behind, we lean into the season—reading favorite Christmas stories, baking cookies, doing crafts, and reflecting on the reason we celebrate.

But even during Christmas School, many families still wonder, “How do I fit in music and art?”

That’s exactly where the 15-Minute Music Method™ comes in.

Fifteen minutes a day.
That’s it.

Just enough time to listen, sing, create, and enjoy—without stress, guilt, or elaborate prep work.

And this December, you can use it to make your Christmas School rich with music, beauty, and fun.

What Is the 15-Minute Music Method™?

If you’re new here, the 15-Minute Music Method™ is my simple framework for fitting music education into busy homeschool days.

Instead of feeling like you have to add “one more thing,” you just spend 15 minutes each day doing something musical or artistic. Listen to a composer, watch a performance, explore a painting, or sing together.

Consistency—not perfection—is the key.

And when December comes, this approach becomes even more powerful. It turns your homeschool days into meaningful, joy-filled moments that point your kids toward Christ.

What is the 15-Minute Music Method?

The Heart Behind Christmas School

When my eight kids were all at home, I used to dread December a little. I wanted it to feel peaceful and full of meaning—but in reality, it was usually chaotic. We had unfinished lessons, sugar-fueled excitement, and a tired mom trying to hold it all together.

One year, I finally gave myself permission to pause.

We put the textbooks away, turned on The Nutcracker Suite, turned on the Christmas tree lights, and spent the morning reading Jotham's Journey.

That’s when I realized something important: learning doesn’t stop when you slow down.

It actually deepens.

That moment became the heart behind both Christmas School and my 15-Minute Music Method™—making space for beauty and meaning, one small, intentional moment at a time.

How to Use the 15-Minute Music Method for Christmas School

You can easily create a full Christmas School plan using my ready-made courses and Fine Art Pages. Each one fits perfectly into the 15-minute format and works beautifully together.

Here’s how:

1. Start with the Music of Christmas online course

This is the best place to begin!

Music of Christmas includes three full years of lessons, so you can rotate it and enjoy something new every year.

  • Year 1: Christmas Music Lessons – Classic Christmas carols and beloved songs like O Holy Night and Carol of the Bells.
  • Year 2: Christmas Traditions Around the World – Explore how countries like Australia, Mexico, and China celebrate through music.
  • Year 3: Lessons and Carols – A deeply meaningful series pairing Scripture, carols, and fine art—perfect for Advent or the week before Christmas.

Each lesson includes videos, listening links, and printable pages. Just press play and go!

If you only used this one course for the entire month of December, you’d have an incredible Christmas School experience.

2. Add the Christmas Musicals Mini-Course

Bring some fun and sparkle to your December with this one!

The Christmas Musicals Mini-Course explores three joyful shows:

  • A Christmas Carol: The Musical
  • Elf: The Musical
  • Irving Berlin’s White Christmas

You’ll meet the composers, learn about musical storytelling, and watch selected clips together.

When I first saw White Christmas as a girl, I was captivated—the costumes, the tap dancing, Bing Crosby’s warm voice singing “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas.” Sharing it with my own kids years later reminded me how music connects generations.

You can use this course for one musical per week—perfect for movie nights or Friday fun days.

It’s ideal for ages nine and up, but the whole family can join in.

That’s what this course is all about: making real memories through music, not perfection.

Christmas Carols Made Easy is a course for all ages to learn to sing together! From Music in Our Homeschool, beginning singing lessons with Christmas carols and Christmas songs.

4. Surround Your Home with Beauty through Fine Art Pages

Why Christmas Schooling Matters

In Luke 2:10–11, the angel said,

“Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”

That verse captures the heart of Christmas School.

Music and art don’t just decorate the season—they help us feel the good news.

When your children sing “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” or study a painting of the Nativity, they’re encountering the gospel in ways words alone can’t express.

That’s why I believe so deeply in this approach. Christmas School isn’t about doing less; it’s about doing what matters most.
